1/16/2007 - Entertainment for Everyone

After a long week of work, most people look forward to the weekend to relax and enjoy time with family and friends. The choices for entertainment are quite abundant, and for those who are not concerned about traveling; now the choices become almost endless.

Here in Western New York, a stones throw from just about anywhere, Race-teams gather to entertain the masses. Well, a mass is maybe an overstatement, but we want to assure you, that we can entertain. Stock cars of all shapes and sizes compete on what is known as the Asphalt BullRing; a 1/3 mile oval track completely visible from anywhere of the Grandstands which seat 4,000 spectators set within the facility mid-way. The mid-way provides access to great food and theme day entertainment.

Scheduled for 2007, a variety of racing & entertainment will be set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon at Wyoming County International Speedway. What will be known as the “Main Event” will move from Sunday afternoons in the warm spring sun, to Friday evenings through the heat of summer (July 15th- Labor Day). The “Friday Tailgate Happy Hours” will begin and 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. with food and beer specials. During the racecar hot-laps, fans will have the opportunity to pour a cold one down and party with friends. After a long week of work, the Bull Ring has the perfect remedy.

The Friday night entertainment party continues with the beginning of the heat race competition at 7:30 p.m. This later scheduled start time has been designed to allow those who work late, and those who are dating the opportunity to make it to Perry, and get a bite to eat, buckle in and cheer for the SST Short-track Superstars. One hundred plus miles per hour for the open wheel machines of the SST Modifieds. Wow! Representatives from across the Northeast race weekly at the BullRing for the overall SST Series Championship.

Super Stocks, 4 cylinders and Mini-cups will fill the ticket most of the main events. Occasionally WCIS will welcome the TQ Midgets, Mid-state Vintage cars and the mighty ROC Modifieds to add to the side-by-side excitement.

During the summer months, the Sunday afternoon show adjusts its format to cater to young racers and groups that normally don’t get a chance to test their skills on the BullRing. Current negotiations with Xtreme Carts, NYMM 600 Micro Sprints, Legends and more will join the already scheduled “Street Stock Summer Series.” Seven races, plus a championship event to give a taste, not only the fans, but to the race-teams as well. These casual Sundays will be economically priced and designed to encourage teams to work up to the “Main Event.”

For a growing full schedule of entertainment events from stock cars to snow-mobiles, music to car shows, even parades to picnics, log on to www.WyomingCountyInternationalSpeedway.com through out the season. For face to face discussions of the many venues of race competition at WCIS, join us at the Valley View Bowling lanes (RT 20A Warsaw NY) this Sunday at 1pm to learn more. Don’t forget to bring your bowling ball, the BullRing bowl-off begins around 3pm!
