Fugle, Catalano and Micoli Make Return Visits to Victory Lane

By: Steven Petty

PERRY, NY With weather threatening, Wyoming County International Speedway got the entire program completed in just about two hours. The racing action was just as competitive just as it always is on the 1/3rd mile Perry, NY oval.

Don King made his first trip to the Bullring a memorable one as he picked up the win in the SST Modified feature. Greg Utberg and Andy Jankowiak led the field to the green flag with Utberg leading the first go around but it was the Rear End Specialties, Jim and Bobs Service 57 of Jankowiak that would take over the top spot on lap 2. Jankowiak would have almost a full track advantage over the rest of the field but engine woes plagued the 57 machine and Don King would get around Jankowiak before the yellow flag would come out. King would then hold off Kevin Lewis and Greg Utberg for his first win at the Bullring.

Austyn Fugle picked up his second straight feature win in the 25 lap SST Super Stock Feature. Brad Collings and Cassie Logsdon led the field for the start with Collings getting the early advantage. Then Mike Chenaille got upfront from his fourth starting spot to take over the point but the lead didnt last for long as Phil Alhart Jr. was looking for the lead but contact was made and both Chenaille and Alhart went to the wall. Chenaille was the only car able to continue as Alhart had axel damage to the 84 machine. After the contact, that gave the lead to Fugle and Austyn would lead the last few laps to pick up his second straight win. Cassie Logsdon would have her best career finish in the division with her runner up finish and Chenaille would bounce back with another top three finish for the Perry, NY pilot.

Tommy Catalano picked up his second win on the season in the 20 lap main event for the 4 cylinder division. Tommy and Eric Haistreiter led the field for the start with Haistreiter getting the advantage. Then right before the halfway mark, Catalano would make his move to the lead with Charles Buchanan also getting around Haistreiter to start his pursuit for Catalano. But the Rocket was too much on this night as Catalano would pick up his second win on the season. Buchanan would take home second and Haistreiter would round out the top three.

Robbie Micoli won his second in a row after battling with Jason Eck and passing Eck before halfway mark in the 12 lap main event for the Mini Cups. After giving up the lead to Micoli, Jason Eck would hold off Kennedy White in a tight battle for the second position. Johnny Scutt and Daniel Majchrzak would complete the top 5.

Next week at the Bullring is Cruise Night as it is also $15 carload night as you can fit everyone in your cruise car and just be charged $15 for everyone in the vehicle.
