The Champ Is Back in Victory Lane at WCIS

By: Steven Petty

PERRY, NY… A warm pre-Summer evening welcomed the cars, stars, and fans to the Wyoming County International Speedway for the racing action under the lights. It was a night of drivers making a return visit to the Promised Land known as Victory Circle but for one driver, the wait to get back to victory lane was a long wait. Before the results of this week’s racing action, let’s recap what happened at the Bullring. Two weeks ago saw Patrick Emerling take top honors in the SST Modifieds. Phil Alhart Jr won in the SST Super Stocks. Charles Buchanan won in the 4 Cylinders and Robbie Micoli won in the Mini Cups. Out of those four, only two were successful on repeating on this evening at WCIS.

Emerling Drives to Victory Lane at WCIS

Alhart Jr., Buchanan and Eck Also Take Checkered

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PERRY, NY… A warm early summer evening welcomed drivers and fans alike to the Wyoming County International Speedway for exciting, heart pounding wheel to wheel racing action on the historic 1/3rd mile Bullring. A car cruise was also held on the speedway grounds during intermission.

Boston, NY’s Patrick Emerling made his second trip to victory lane this season after leading all 35 laps in the SST Modified Feature. Jim Ling and Emerling led the field for the start of the Modified feature and it was Emerling in his Emerling Chevrolet 03 machine getting out to the early advantage. An advantage that he wouldn’t give up throughout the duration of the event. There was a “Cinderella story” to this feature event and the “Cinderella story” was Andy Jankowiak. Andy J had problems with his regular Jim and Bob’s Service, Rear End Specialties 57 machine during hot laps and Jankowiak jumped behind the wheel of the Ed Schueler 6 machine that is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness as well as Autism Awareness. After each restart, Andy J would try to real in Patrick Emerling but all chances were shut down by the race leader as Emerling would lead all 35 laps in picking up his second win of 2010 at WCIS. Andy Jankowiak finished up in the runner up spot. Joe Evans crossed the line in third in his TW Signs, Emerling Ford/Mercury machine.

King is King at WCIS

Fugle, Catalano and Micoli Make Return Visits to Victory Lane

By: Steven Petty

PERRY, NY With weather threatening, Wyoming County International Speedway got the entire program completed in just about two hours. The racing action was just as competitive just as it always is on the 1/3rd mile Perry, NY oval.

Don King made his first trip to the Bullring a memorable one as he picked up the win in the SST Modified feature. Greg Utberg and Andy Jankowiak led the field to the green flag with Utberg leading the first go around but it was the Rear End Specialties, Jim and Bobs Service 57 of Jankowiak that would take over the top spot on lap 2. Jankowiak would have almost a full track advantage over the rest of the field but engine woes plagued the 57 machine and Don King would get around Jankowiak before the yellow flag would come out. King would then hold off Kevin Lewis and Greg Utberg for his first win at the Bullring.
