SST OffRoad - 2 Wheel Drive
Chassis
A. Custom built frames must be a min. of .120" wall thickness.
B. Roll cage tubing must be a min. of .120" wall thickness 1 ½'” diameter or min. of .090" wall thickness 1 3/4" diameter tubing. D.O.M. .120" wall thickness 1 3/4" diameter recommended.
C. Maximum track width can not exceed 93", outside of tire to outside of tire, as measured from a ride height of ten (10) inches or when the suspension reaches its widest point.
D. Truck ride height must be a min. of ten (10) inches and may be measured before and after competition for proper ride height.
E. Truck wheel base must be a min. of 110" and a max. of 124"
F. Trucks wheelbase and width will be measured with all the tires inflated to twenty (20) psi. The trucks will be measured as they pass over a ten (10) inch ride height block .
G. All trucks will be left side steer (operated) only. Steering wheel, seat, and pedals must remain in approximate stock location.
Body
A. The trucks body must resemble a truck, SUV, or jeep.
B. The body must be of fiberglass, plastic, aluminum or light guage steel (24 ga)
C. Tires must retract inside of the fenders.
D. Flared fenders allowed.
Truck weight
A. Trucks must weigh a minimum of 3,250 lbs. without the driver.
B. Trucks with engines exceeding 366 cubic inches must weigh a minimum of 9lbs./cubic inch
Suspension
A. Maximum of two (2) shocks per corner.
B. One (1) spring stack per corner, maximum of three (3) springs on one shock.
C. External bypass allowed on one (1) shock per corner.
D. Shocks may not exceed 2.5 inches in diameter.
E. Bump stops will be allowed on both front and rear of the truck. Bump stops may not absorb any more than the last six (6) inches of upward compression.
F. Front wheel travel is limited to a maximum of eighteen (18) inches.
G. Rear wheel travel is limited to a maximum of twenty (20) inches.
H. Four bar (four link) rear suspension only. No spring loaded link bars allowed.
I. Rear axle may not rotate separately from axle housing mounts.
J. Independent rear suspension not allowed.
K. All four corners must be coil type spring. No leave springs of any kind.
Steering
A. Rear steering is not permitted.
B. Mechanical type steering with or without hydraulic assist only. Steering must operate while the engine is off. Rack and pinion steering will be permitted.
C. No bias or steering assist brakes allowed.
Brakes
A. Trucks must have brakes on all four (4) wheels and when tested must lock all four (4) wheels
B. Pinion brakes (drive shaft brakes) not allowed.
C. No bias brakes of any kind allowed. Brakes should apply evenly.
D. Cast Iron OEM Components only
Tires
A. Maximum tire size of 35 x 12.50 or metric equivalent allowed.
B. DOT tires only.
C. Tires may be cut. Tires with exposed cords are not permitted.
D. Inner liners allowed.
E. Minimum pressure must be fifteen (15) psi during competition. Equipment used to adjust tire air pressure during competition or from the drivers compartment is not permitted.
Wheels
A. Maximum wheel size is 10" x 15", 10" x 16", or 9" x 17"
B. Minimum back spacing for all wheels must be 3 3/4".
C. Wheels may be steel or aluminum. Bead lock wheels recommended.
D. All wheels must be free of cracks or defects that could cause wheel failure.
Engine
A. Engine block
1. Must be of OEM design and materials.
2. Maximum of eight (8) cylinders.
3. Maximum engine block set back is forty two (42) inches from the front spindle centerline to the rear of bell housing mount flange on rear of block.
B. Cylinder heads - OEM Cast Iron for division development.
C. Naturally aspirated engines only. No turbos, superchargers, or blowers.
D. Limited carburetion TBA
Fuel
A. Trucks restricted to one (1) four barrel carburetor. TBA
B. Fuel injection Not Allowed
C. Fuel must be of gasoline type. Maximum of 110 octane allowed.
D. No nitrous oxide or alcohol.
Transmission
A. Automatic transmissions must operate through a conventional torque converter.
B. Manual (standard) shift transmissions may have a maximum of three (3) disk clutches.
C. All transmissions must have a mechanical shift lever and can not be shifted electronically or pneumatically unless needed because of a handicap condition of the driver. Alternate methods of shifting because of a driver handicap must be approved by the sanctioning body.
